Pin, boss and bushing repair and machining in Thunder Bay
Slop in a bucket, boom or linkage usually comes from worn pins, bushings and egg-shaped bores. Left alone, the wear speeds up and the bores crack. Fixing it typically means building up the bore with weld, then boring or machining it back to size and fitting new bushings and pins.
Typical work
- Building up and re-machining worn bores and bosses
- Pressing out and installing bushings
- Machining new pins or turning down replacement pins to fit
- Replacing or rebuilding boss and ear plates
- Field line-boring, where the welder has portable bore-welding gear (not all do, so ask)
Field or shop?
Attachments and smaller parts can often go to a machine shop. Bores on a machine frame that can't be moved need a portable boring setup on site. Include photos and the machine's make and model so the provider can tell which approach fits.
